Results Day!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while (I bet all one of my followers are disappointed. xD)
There's been a lot going on, family things and whatnot. Anyway, I got my GCSE results today and I am very proud of myself. I think I did well, and I worked my socks off to get them. I'm not gonna post em all, but A* in art. ^-^
Just a quick post today, nothing interesting really, just getting results and registering at 6th form and whatnot. Then ring all my aunties, uncles, grandparents and cousins to tell them. I'm really tired because I've been up since 7am, but I got some good marks and a silver balloon out of it, so I'm happy. Happy Thursday everyone, and well done to anyone else that got their results today!

I've been exploring!

I've been going on long walks the past few days, and I found a spooky little forest along the path. I haven't been very far into it, as each time I've been on my own, and little girls shouldn't go in forests on their own or they get eaten by wolves. I did have a little look around closeby to the entrance though. The place is covered in bluebells and toadstools, and has a cute little river with a waterfall. Again, once my camera get's fixed I will take some photos.

On another note, my brother got Portal on his Xbox 360, so I've been playing that. I love GlaDos. Crazy robot ladies FTW!

Other than that, I don't really have anything to say about today. Tomorrow I'm gonna go and have a wander in that forest again.

These boots are just the most amazing things ever! If they weren't so expensive I'd have them immediately.

FunFunFun!

I DID have a post for yesterday, but the electricity cut off when I was midway through writing it, so I just went to bed since I was tired.
It was Dad's 50th birthday yesterday. We had the Western party, which was awesome. I went as a saloon girl, and I'll show you a picture once I get one. A couple of my friends came along, and we just talked for a while, then ate once the buffet was open and danced for the rest of the night.
My grandma had a liiiittle bit too much to drink, since she ended up dancing with my friend Jen's boyfriend, and then called him her toyboy for the rest of the night, and tried to kiss him goodbye before she left. xD
We also sucked the helium out of many balloons and talked in high pitched voices. I got the giant inflatable cactus balloon. I'd take a picture of it, but my stupid camera is still broken.
My neck is all stiff from dancing now. I'll leave a more interesting post tomorrow, with pictures of some sort this time, promise! Happy Sunday everyone.

Blegh

I skipped a day, and the scanner has been in constant use because my dad needed it for various photographs and whatnot, so I haven't yet scanned the sketches. No sign of my camera working again either. :c
This isn't gonna be a long post since I don't have much to talk about really. There's been a lot of personal things going on and I haven't really been myself the past few days.
But let's not dwell on the bad! It's my Dad's birthday party tomorrow night, and I have my saloon girl costume all ready. I changed things about a little so it looked better, and I have a few makeup ideas in mind. A couple of my close friends are coming along and it should be a laugh.
I haven't done much the past few days, as I said, personal things have been going. Mostly I've just been doodling and whatnot. I'll scan those in when I get a chance. Right now I'm just cuddling in my pjs watching some cartoons and having a cosy night. Have a nice Friday everyone!

Being Lazy Again...

Yet another lazy day, but what are summer holidays for? Can't be out doing crazy things all the time! Infact I wouldn't go to any cities in the UK right now...

I do have some interesting things to talk about. Firstly, my dad's party. Dad turns 50 on Saturday, so we're having a big cowboy themed party for him. No idea why it's all western themed, he just likes cowboys I spose. I'm going as a saloon girl, and I got my costume today.

Red dress, with a denimy corset looking underbust thing (its not an actual corset, just looks like one), knee high socks to match, a feather boa, choker, and gloves. I just need to get the dress adjusted. It's one of those "one size fits all" things that never actually fit all. Unless by "fits all" they mean fits more than one person in at a time?
Hopefully my camera will be working again by Saturday. I've changed the batteries, tried resetting it, everything. The little red light comes on to say it's on, but it doesn't do anything afterwards, and you can't turn it off either, unless you take the batteries out.

I did a few little coloured sketches of Venetian masks too, which I'll scan tomorrow and show you. I'm gonna make one at some point, I just have no idea whatsoever as to what I want it to look like.I should make an art post and show you all the sorta artsy things I've been up to lately. I still need to make a nice cover for my 6th form art journal, but I've no idea what I wanna do with that either.
Aside from playing a few video games and watching Mock The Week clips, that's about it for today. Goodnight everyone!

It's been a good day

I got up early this morning, got ready and left for town to see my good friend Laura!
I took a photo of my outfit to show you, but my camera broke. And yes, that sounds really vain, but I thought it looked pretty cool today.
For anyone that's interested, which I doubt there is, I wore a black shirt with grey spiderweb print all over it, my white leather corset with black lace spiderwebs on the top of it, my black skirt with a little skull bow, black tights with silver spiderwebs on, and my black calf Doc Marten boots. Along with rings, necklaces, chokers, fingerless gloves, etc. xD Gotta dress it up!
Anywaaay, I met up with Laura, gave her her card and present, which she loved, and we wandered around town for a little while, got something to eat, caught up on a lot of things and had a laugh. We also found a giant inflatable T Rex, which again I got a picture of, but my camera is stupid and it's not working. And LOTS of Hello Kitty stuff, seriously, HK is popular right now, we kept seeing her all over.
I got some new headphones, finally. And a choker for my dad's party on Saturday (more on that later) and some new pirateish fingerless gloves. I LOVE fingerless gloves. And pirates.
After I came home I took the dogs on another walk because it was still really sunny, and since then I've just relaxed and read a book.
Sadly, no pictures today. Damn you camera. >:c Still, I hope you all had a lovely Tuesday!

I'm covered in glitter!

I didn't write any posts yesterday. :c I feel bad, not that I have any followers anyway.
It was pretty much a lazy day. I sat around in my pyjamas and played Harvest Moon DS for the most part.
However, today has been a lot more fun, in that I actually did something. When I woke up, I got dressed and took the dogs out. It's been another wet day, but it was still pretty outside.

Twisty tree!

I do love living in the countryside.
Tomorrow I'm going to town with a good friend, who is known as the Duchess of Tea (it's a character we made up) and since it was her birthday not so long ago, but I haven't seen her because she's been on holiday and whatnot, I'll be giving her the card and present then.
I made the card myself today. I drew the Duchess of Tea, mounted it on some awesome clock hand/face paper I found in my mum's shop, and stuck it to some light blue card. I then coated the edge of the paper with gold glitter, which is now all over me, my floor and my dogs. I LOVE GLITTER!
This is the card:
After I made it, me and Mum sat watching the riots on the news all day. Personally, I think it's disgusting, even moreso that it's all people around my age. Some people really need to get a hobby! The sad part is, because people see "TEENAGERS CAUSING RIOTS!" on TV, all teenagers will get labelled as troublemakers. It really isn't fair, and I genuinely feel sorry for the police. If they go in and arrest hundreds, fights occur and they end up getting accused of being too heavy, and yet if they just stand and defend, they're accused of not doing anything at all.
Apart from that, they're setting innocent people's homes alight, destroying people's cars and stealing from shops. The economy is bad enough without all this added on.

And now to end on something a little bit more uplifting,  enjoy this smiling horse!

Pretty Masks

Well...that went well...

Today was... a little bit hectic.
When we got up there was a huge thunder storm outside, which went on for most of the day. It was so close by, the thunder actually made the walls shake and the electricity go off. So instead of sitting around waiting to be shocked by lighting, we got dressed, and left to start work decorating the wedding reception.
Firstly, my mum went to the hall to lay out the tablecloths and whatnot while my brother and I were assigned to putting M&Ms in favour boxes, closing the boxes, and tying a neat little bow around it. Of course one or two escaped and had to be eaten...>:3
When we'd finished all the favour boxes, we headed over to the hall to help out with the decorating, carrying giant silver letters in a bag, in the pouring rain. My mum and dad had already set out the table cloths and decorated the chairs with ribbons.

I told you A looked kind of like a giant toilet seat!

We had trouble getting the letters to stop floating up to the very high ceiling, and I spent the first half an hour in the hall acting as a balloon weight and holding them all down. E did manage to escape, but thankfully my dad had a huge ladder with him.
After that I helped my mum inflate some small helium balloons to go in little clusters on the tables. I blew them up, and my mum tied the string to the ends and arranged them neatly.
My brother and my dad were working on the exploding balloon. It's a giant balloon filled with smaller balloons, confetti and glitter, and when the bride and groom have their first dance together as a married couple, the best man (usually) pops the balloon with a long pointed stick (at one wedding they actually used a ceremonial sword for this) so the confetti falls down around them.

This is before it was hung on the ceiling. The balloon was about 1m in diameter.

After we'd done those, we all started helping out with the giant arch across the front of the stage. The DJ for the night also came in at this point, but there was a little bit of a dilemma with that as the bride and groom had hired a band and a DJ. If the DJ set his decks up on the stage, the band couldn't be seen, but at the same time, there was nowhere else for him to go.
So he set up anyway, and we started to put the arch up. Just as we got all of the letters in the right places, G decided it was sick of floating, and deflated. We tried reinflating it, but it refused to, so we had to take it down and instead just used the first letters of their names. I actually think it looked better this way, since with the full names, one being 3 letters and the other being 5, the arch would have looked a bit lopsided.
Nevertheless, we got the arch done, and my dad began to hang the exploding balloon above the dancefloor while the rest of us put out the favour boxes and spread confetti on the tables.
After this things started to get a bit stressful. We had an hour to go, and plenty of things to do. Mum and I started putting little fairy lights inside balloons, blowing them up, and then letting them float to the ceiling, except some of the little lights were stubborn and had to be fiddled with first before they'd switch on.
My brother and dad set up fairy lights across the bottom of the stage behind a layer of gold organza fabric. The caterers came in and began setting up big trays of hot food across a table at the back. The bride, groom, and several other guests also started coming in at this point! They were an hour early and still expected us to be done by then.

We hurried and finished off everything as quickly as possible while they waited outside in the bar. It didn't take too long, and soon we had everything finished. We swiftly left through the fire exit door at the back. I only managed to snap a few pictures, and most were while we were still working so you can't see any of the fairylights and whatnot, but here they are.

A fancy box to put wedding cards in, made and decorated by my mum.

Mum dropped me and my brother off home, and I took the dogs for a walk since they'd been sat inside all day. Everything was wet from the thunder storm, and it was still drizzling a bit, but it was nice. I didn't go as far as normal, although I did bring my camera and get a few pictures of nice scenery.

I can't listen to any music or play any games tonight either. My lovely skull candy headphones stopped working last night for no apparent reason, and the old crappy ones I found in the back of the drawer that I was using instead got accidently cut in half by Mum today when she was cutting up ribbon on the table where I left them. My stupid speakers don't work, and I have no headphones to listen to. I'm not playing any Fatal Frame without headphones either, it makes it scarier having headphones in.

Anyway, after such a stressful day I'm gonna sit around in my Winnie the Pooh pyjamas with some chocolate and read a book. Happy Saturday all!

Giant Silver Toilet Seats!

Today has been quite eventful so far. I got up early and went to my mum's shop to start a day of work.
My mum has owned an arts and crafts/gifts and balloons/social event decorating shop for about a year now, and she gets all sorts of crazy orders, particularly for weddings. Sometimes I go down to help out, usually to get a bit of pocket money, even though it is a lot of fun doing the big orders.

However, today my mum was doing an order she couldn't cope with on her own, and with my dad being at work, my brother and I were asked to help out. It's such a big order in fact, it's taking 2 days to do instead of just one morning like it usually does.

A woman came to my mum's shop about a month ago, and told my mum she wants her to decorate her wedding reception. Everything is gold, silver, or white. She wants lots and lots of balloons, fairy lights, table decorations, chair decorations, floaty organza materials all over, vases with gold/silver painted twigs in them, more fairy lights wrapped around them, glass dishes filled with M&Ms (their names both begin with M), table sprinkers, rose petals, glitter, sparkly things, and generally just everything you can imagine.
So today we started some of the decorating, since if we blew all the helium balloons up now, they'd have half deflated by tomorrow.
We started off by blowing up some balloons with air, as air balloons don't float away, and last longer than helium ones. We blew up some tiny little 5" ones first and filled a massive bag with them. These are all going to be tied to the backs of the chairs  Then we filled up some 10" balloons and began making the bases for the huge archway.

After that we started inflating some foil balloons, the kind with the pretty designs printed on them. Firstly half a dozen gold and silver balloons with "Just Married" written on them, and then some giant silver letters to spell out their names, which was amazing fun. The As looked sort of like toilet seats. Hence the title. xD
Foil balloons tend to last a lot longer, and can always be reinflated anyway, so that's half of the balloons out of the way. Tomorrow morning it's up early to go and inflate regular balloons with helium, and put M&Ms in dishes (and try to resist eating them, hehe.)
I'll try and get some nice pictures if we're not too busy, and if we are, my mum usually takes a few for the website anyway. It'll look gorgeous when we're done, and it'll be fantastic getting to play with balloons, fairy lights and glittery stuff all day.

Anyway, after we'd done all of that my mum dropped us home before rushing off to get more stuff for the wedding tomorrow, and I took the dogs out for a nice long walk seen as though it was such a lovely day.
There's an extremely long path that runs along the back of our house that used to be a railway line, so it goes on for miles and miles. I walked all the way up to the really foresty part, and really regretted not bringing a sketchbook or camera, it's gorgeous up there. There are bluebells all over the place, and I even spotted some typical fairytale toadstools, the red ones with little white spots. I think I'll have another wander up there on Sunday and get a few pretty pictures to use in a drawing or something.

On the walk back down to my house, my dogs, Bonnie and Clyde, decided it was so hot the only way they could cope was to roll in a muddy puddle and then shake it all over me, which meant I was soaking and mucky, but I was already unbearably hot so I had a nice cold shower when I got home. Now I'm just going to relax and enjoy the evening.

Beautiful Bizarrities: Venetian Masks

I have a bit of a mini-obsession (an obsession that will most likely be forgotton about within a few days) with Venetian masks. I've always thought they were pretty, but today after watching Labyrinth and seeing some of the amazing masks they wear in the ball scene, I've been looking at all sorts of crazy designs. I took a few screenshots of the masks in the film too, for those of you who haven't seen it (and you should be ashamed of yourselves, it really is a fantastic film.)

I like the unicorn mask at the end.

And my favourite, Jared's mask. That skeleton hand is a great idea.I love how they all look like monsters rather than your typical mask. The people that came up with all the costume and scenery ideas in that film are very talented people, it never ceases to amaze me. I particularly love how everything in the background seems to be covered in glitter.

I was thinking of having a go at making my own mask, either from scratch or maybe buying a plain white one and repainting it. They really are stunning.

I think I'll finish with some bonus screenshots. Happy Thursday!
